چکیده

To investigate the influence of joints on stability underground opening, uniaxial compression tests and FE analyses based a microplane damage model for rocks has been conducted rock-like models with circular hole set non-persistent joints. It was found that peak strength Young’s modulus decrease increase in joint continuity factor k, variation them inclination angle β are W or V-shaped curves minima maxima at = 30° 90°, respectively. The failure modes specimens collapse can be related to crack coalescence between matrix. Numerical simulation reproduce main features macroscopic mechanical behavior explain anisotropic mechanism. strong interaction nearest revealed. During elastic stage, stress concentration around will altered by presence joints, effect may strengthened k. At strength, current areas transferred from surface interior due loosening localization bands/zones, higher hoop lead lower strength.

Numerical Studies on the Failure Process of Heterogeneous Brittle Rocks or Rock-Like Materials under Uniaxial Compression

In rocks or rock-like materials, the constituents, e.g. quartz, calcite and biotite, as well as the microdefects have considerably different mechanical properties that make such materials heterogeneous at different degrees. The failure of materials subjected to external loads is a cracking process accompanied with stress redistribution due to material heterogeneity. However, the latter cannot b...

Experimental and numerical study of the failure process and energy mechanisms of rock-like materials containing cross un-persistent joints under uniaxial compression

Joints and fissures in natural rocks have a significant influence on the stability of the rock mass, and it is often necessary to evaluate strength failure and crack evolution behavior. In this paper, based on experimental tests and numerical simulation (PFC2D), the macro-mechanical behavior and energy mechanism of jointed rock-like specimens with cross non-persistent joints under uniaxial load...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

cohesion and cohesive devices in a contrastive analysis between ge and esp texts

the present study was an attempt to conduct a contrastive analysis between general english (ge) and english for specific purposes (esp) texts in terms of cohesion and cohesive devices. to this end, thirty texts from different esp and ge textbooks were randomly selected. then they were analyzed manually to find the frequency of cohesive devices. cohesive devices include reference, substitution, ...
